Researcher, doctoral candidate, Department of design
About
I’ve been working at the Department of Design, in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture as a design researcher and a post-graduate student from the beginning of 2010. My professional background is in Industrial and Strategic Design (MA degree in 2007 from University of Art and Design, TaiK). My studies included minor studies in new media, at Media Lab Helsinki, and I’ve also been active in web design and audiovisual production.
Topic of my research is to improve understanding the process and the outcomes of inter-professional, multidisciplinary design collaboration in the context of sustainability. I’m looking into the tools and language related to the issues of sustainability and “design for sustainability” -process, in several professional areas. The focus is on the different fields of expertise that exists in the Aalto University framework, such as business, engineering and architecture.
The aim of the research is to gather information on how designer’s work as a facilitator of sustainable solutions could benefit from deeper understanding regarding the stakeholders’ and collaborators’ different approaches towards sustainability, and the tools and frameworks to measure it.
