My research interests have included:
- historical and/or comparative studies of institutions and organizations, e.g. new and strategic forms of organization in the global fashion industry; management consulting; business journalism in Finland Djelic and Ainamo 1999; Ainamo 2005a,b; Ainamo, Tienari & Vaara 2006), public development cooperation and evolution of universities in which Finland is part (Ainamo & Lindy 2012; Ainamo in Ståhle & Ainamo 2012)
- mobile telephony (Djelic and Ainamo 2005 in Research in the Sociology of Organizations; Ainamo and Pantzar 2000, Design Journal.
- what are now called service sciences in management consulting, journalism, legal services, archictecture, and product/industrial design
- strategic perspectives on global projects (Ainamo, Artto, Levitt, Orr, Scott & Tainio 2010)
